About the Job

The CJIS Application Tester will be responsible for system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), requirements validation, automation testing, defect management, and testing documentation for the Connecticut Information Sharing System (CISS) and other CJIS-managed systems.

Key Responsibilities
Create test cases/use cases and execute functional/system testing.
Perform User Acceptance Testing and requirements validation.
Prepare test results and testing reports.
Document testing processes for the testing team.
Identify, document, track, and support resolution of defects.
Test new releases for the CJIS team and stakeholders.
Enter and manage defects in defect management tools.
Validate Traceability Matrix against contractual requirements.
Develop and maintain automation frameworks and test suites.
Integrate automated testing with DevOps.
Collaborate on automation framework architecture and expansion.
Support stakeholders and prepare presentations when required.
Analyze complex integrated systems and trace issues to their source.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology or related field.
5–7 years of IT testing experience.
Experience with NIEM XML or another complex XML standard.
Manual web-service testing using SOAP UI / Postman.
Experience with SOA technologies.
Strong SQL Server skills, including complex SQL queries.
Proficiency with MS Excel.
Programming experience in C# or Java.
Experience with automation testing and data-driven automation.
Knowledge of Extent Reports or similar automation reporting tools.
Strong knowledge of GitHub.
Ability to develop, maintain, and enhance automation test suites.
Ability to integrate automation testing with DevOps.
Strong understanding of software design patterns.
Preferred
Experience with IBM Rational Jazz Suite.
Candidate Profile — What to Look For
The strongest candidate will be a Senior QA/Test Automation Engineer rather than a purely manual tester. Prior experience with complex integrated systems, XML, web services, SQL, C#/Java-based automation, API testing, and CI/CD/DevOps integration is important.
